BASKETBALL

Travel Basketball Registration is open to Girls and Boys in 3rd thru 8th Grade.  Registration is held in the fall.

BASKETBALL CLINIC

The Basketball Clinic is offered to children in grades K thru 2 and is offered in February and March. Registration opens in January.

CHEERLEADING

Cheerleading is offered to children in 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th Grade.

CYO of Long Island is launching a new Chess program open to girls and boys in 3rd to 8th grade.

The teams will be broken down into 3 Grade levels:

3rd / 4th

5th / 6th

7th / 8th

Each team will have a minimum of 4 players and a maximum of 6. However, if the minimum number of players is not reached for any grade level they will work to set up individual contests as well.

Participants will compete according to their strength of play on a scale of 1-6 within their grade division, with 1 being the strongest.  For example player #1 from OLL  will play against the player #1 from St. Christopher's in 3rd/4th an so on.  The level at which a participant competes may go up or down from week to week depending on their progression.

There will be 8-10 tournaments vs other local parishes consisting of home and away venues.

Cost:  $100 per player - includes chess supplies, competition fees, and team t-shirt.

We are in need of coaches/volunteers to get this program off the ground.  CYO Long Island will hold education meetings to help volunteers learn the fundamentals as well as supplemental learning sessions for the participants.

CROSS COUNTRY

The OLL Malverne CYO team offers a cross country (XC) program.  It runs immediately after the track season, from July to October.  The goal of the program is to keep children active during the summer and build gradually their physique.  By participating in practices they'll be capable to run continuously up to 3 miles.

Our team practices at the Hendrickson Park in Valley Stream.  The park's "small" loop is 1 mile long, the "big" loop is 1.5 miles. The XC program is open to children from 5 years of age, reached on September 1, to 8th grade.  Parents are encouraged to bike or run along with their kids.  The path serves both pedestrians and bikers.  The practices last approximately an hour.  You may use the time for your own preparation for local 5k road races that take place in the fall or just to improve your fitness.

INTRAMURAL SOCCER

Intramural soccer is for children in Kindergarten and First Grade.  At this level, we place kids on actual teams and split into boys and girls divisions.  Teams practice once a week and then play a game on Saturday mornings behind Malverne High School from early September to early November.  Games are played with a goalie and 5 field players aside.  We do not keep score and there are no standings.

PEE WEE SOCCER

The "Pee Wee" level is for children 4 years old.  This program runs for an hour each Saturday morning at Malverne High School from early September to early November.   Half the time is spent doing basic and fun drills.  The balance is spent in small-sided informal games.  Boys and girls will play together, but we do split them up for the games based on ability/aggressiveness to keep it fun for everyone.

TRAVEL SOCCER

Travel Soccer is open to all children from 2nd to 8th grade.  We enter teams in a CYO league to play against other parishes in Nassau County, including Sacred Heart, Cure of Ars, St. Aidan's, and Holy Spirit, as well as the Long Beach Tri-Parish CYO program.  Our home fields are at Malverne High School and Malverne Middle School.

Games are played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from early September until mid-November.  In 2nd and 3rd grades, games are played 9 aside on a modified field.  In 4th grade, the teams move to the full-size field and play 11 v 11.  CYO also holds play-offs for grades 4 through 8 at the end of the season.  We don't hold try-outs for these teams.; we take players on a first-come first-serve basis, and are generally able to accommodate everyone who wants to play.  All ability levels are welcome.

Please Note:

All players in grades 2 thru 6 must have a uniform.  This uniform will be yours to keep for future years.  If you did NOT buy a uniform prior to this season, you must buy one.  Players in 7th & 8th grade will be provided a uniform if you don't already have one.

We are always looking for new blood to help run the program and keep it fresh.  If you don't know anything about the game, but you have some administrative skills and/or a little free time, we can certainly find something useful for you to do.  So don't be shy about volunteering!

SWIMMING

Our Lady of Lourdes sponsors a  swim team that competes against other CYO teams.  The season starts in November and runs to April.  The coaching staff is committed to making the swim team a very positive experience.

We currently do not offer swimming instruction. We are a competitive Swim Team.  Practice will be held at Echo Park Pool or Freeport Recreation Center on Sunday mornings between the hours of 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM.

New swimmers must demonstrate the ability to swim  one length of the pool [25 yards].

FALL TRACK

Track season runs from early September through November.  We compete in 4 meets against other CYO teams throughout Nassau County, primarily on Saturdays or Sundays.  We practice 2-3 nights a week at Malverne High School from 6:30-7:30 pm.

Registration is open to boys and girls K through 8th Grade.
